Ministry Leader: Marie Libby
The Widows' Fellowship welcomes widows of any age for the purpose of encouragement, support, and fellowship. Although all our circumstances vary, the grief process we experience is quite similar.
Our fellowship includes ladies from their 30s to their 90s, and some have just lost their spouse less than a year ago; while others have been widowed more than 20 years. We have members whose husbands were not Christians. The diversity of our members makes this fellowship very valuable. It is helpful for a recent widow to hear how other women coped with the loss of sleep and appetite, financial struggles and feelings that they were "going crazy". As we have all "been there and done that", we are able to empathize and realize that this process can takes years. Most ladies have said this is the only place where they feel comfortable sharing what they are experiencing, as their feelings will not be judged.
Don't be fooled though, this is nothing like a "pity party". We usually depart our time of fellowship with sore stomach muscles from laughing so hard, as everyone can relate to each other in a personal way. The group meets monthly, with the exception of November & December due to the holidays.
We typically meet on the third Friday of each month at 5:30pm and enjoy a potluck supper at various members' homes. In Jan/Feb, we hold an annual Victorian Tea, and in May/June, we participate in an annual Garden Luncheon locally. We would love to meet new ladies! Feel free to contact the church office for more information and/or to leave your contact information. One of the Fellowship leaders will contact you as soon as possible. God bless you!
